The Young Journalism activity will aim to introduce and deliver the core requirements for understanding the field of journalism. Participants will be immersed in an engaging and informed structure of exercises designed and directed with a view to initiating a medium of storytelling, be it a school newspaper/blog. The focus of the program will be building media literacy and an awareness of the convergent nature of new media that combines photography, print, web and broadcasting.
Participants will be provided with the essential skills for inquiry and self expression. There will be an opportunity for the participants to showcase their work as well as participant recognition programs in the field of journalism. It may also be possible for participants who show a marked interest to be awarded a holiday internship/mentorship with media houses or companies involved with new media.
