Student Support Services

IMPACT Centre and Learning Support

Welcome to the Inclusive Education Services at the School of the Nations!

Our Inclusive Education Services encompass two specialized programs: the IMPACT Centre and Learning Support, each tailored to address the diverse needs of our students.

The IMPACT Centre

The IMPACT Centre provides a personalized educational experience for students with learning challenges, integrating a modified Cambridge International Education curriculum with the Award Scheme Development Accreditation Network (ASDAN) program to address diverse needs. Our dedicated team employs individualized strategies to support students with varied learning profiles, equipping them with the tools to achieve academic success while fostering emotional regulation, social skills, and effective behavior management.

Cambridge International Education and ASDAN Curricula

The IMPACT Centre offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach that supports students’ academic and personal growth within the frameworks of the Cambridge International Education curriculum and the ASDAN curriculum. These specialized programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, fostering development across key areas including communication, behavior, physical well-being, and social-emotional growth.

ASDAN Curriculum
The ASDAN curriculum focuses on cultivating practical life skills, specifically designed to support students with special educational needs. It is designed to build independence, self-confidence, and employability skills through a combination of coursework and project-based learning. At the IMPACT Centre, we implement ASDAN programs to help students strengthen skills in areas like personal development, communication, and vocational preparation. These programs are tailored to meet students' individual needs, providing hands-on learning experiences that support their transition to life beyond school.

Cambridge International Education Curriculum
The Cambridge curriculum is designed to provide a broad and balanced education that meets the academic needs of students while allowing for differentiation. In the IMPACT Centre, we adapt the curriculum to ensure students receive personalized instruction, enabling them to develop key skills in subjects such as English, Math, Science, and Humanities. Through individualized learning plans, we modify the pace, content, and approach to ensure every student can engage meaningfully with the curriculum and achieve their academic potential.

Both the Cambridge and ASDAN curricula work in tandem to provide students with a balanced educational experience that emphasizes academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and the development of essential life skills. Our approach ensures that every student has access to the tools and resources they need to thrive academically and personally.

Learning Support

Our Learning Support program adapts the Cambridge International Education curriculum to meet the unique needs of students. Through close collaboration with students, teachers, and families, we develop personalized learning plans that build on students' strengths while identifying and targeting their learning challenges, fostering an inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Tailored Cambridge Curriculum Modifications

Our Learning Support program is designed to provide students with access to the mainstream Cambridge International Education curriculum while customizing it to meet their individual learning needs. For some students, this may involve adjustments such as replacing specific subjects—like Kiswahili—with additional personalized, one-on-one lessons focused on areas requiring targeted improvement, such as mathematics.

Curriculum modifications are thoughtfully crafted to align with each student’s unique learning requirements. These adjustments are implemented both within the mainstream classroom and in dedicated learning support sessions to ensure an inclusive and supportive educational experience.

Our remedial program is specifically aimed at closing the gap between a student’s current knowledge and the proficiency level expected for their academic stage, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed.

Message from Mrs. Im, School Principal

"At the School of The Nations, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student is valued and supported. Through our specialized programs and dedicated team of professionals, we aim to empower neuro-diverse learners to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally."

Iana Tchoukanska-Pestana, Special Education Coordinator

"In my role as Special Education Coordinator at School of the Nations, I serve by supporting students with diverse learning needs and strengthening the systems that enable their success across the school community. My work includes conducting assessments, developing individualized education plans, and designing differentiated lesson plans - such as tailored ASDAN modules - that meet students at their current levels. I collaborate closely with learning support staff, mainstream teachers, and extracurricular instructors to adapt instruction, respond to students’ evolving learning needs, and ensure consistency in support across all environments. I also provide staff training, liaise with parents to maintain strong home-school communication, and help guide the school’s inclusive practices and student-support frameworks. Through this work, I am committed to fostering a caring, responsive environment where every learner is understood, encouraged, and equipped to grow into their full potential."

Desi Haydter, Strategic Initiatives Officer

"As the Strategic Initiatives Officer at School of the Nations, I serve by helping to build systems and structures that strengthen the school’s mission to nurture Christ-centered character, learning, and community. My work includes developing school-wide policies and guiding the school’s accreditation journey, while also establishing the operational frameworks that support clarity, accountability, and long-term growth. In this capacity, I collaborate with external educational organizations to bring in resources and professional learning that build the school’s capabilities across both mainstream instruction and student support services. I am also deeply involved in supporting the IMPACT Program, working alongside teachers to strengthen inclusive practices and individualized support. Through all aspects of my role, I am committed to fostering a learning environment where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to grow in their God-given potential."

Success Stories and Testimonials

At the IMPACT Center, we are proud to share inspiring success stories that demonstrate the transformative impact of personalized education and dedicated support. Since its inception, the IMPACT Center has been committed to providing comprehensive resources and creating an inclusive, nurturing environment that values diversity and celebrates each student’s unique potential.

"School of the Nations has been an exceptional learning environment for our son during Years 5 and 6. As a child on the autism spectrum, he thrived in the school's intimate garden setting and the unique atmosphere of the IMPACT Center. In the two years he attended, he experienced no bullying, and his academic performance excelled. The staff's blend of professionalism and warmth made a significant impact on his development, fostering both his academic and personal growth. We would highly recommend School of the Nations to any parents looking for a caring, inclusive, and stimulating environment for their child."
